Institut Pasteur Paris - Access to BSL 3 containment facility. The access will comprise a detailed theoretical and subject to availability practical application of the biosafety and biosecurity management at Institut Pasteur. Among others, establishment and validation of suitable decontamination methods for waist, rooms and material, as well as documentation and information management will be addressed.

In this 2-day course the basic principles of routine virus neutralization and ELISA assays will be addressed by a combination of lectures, demonstration and hands-on training. Special attention will be given to quality control and assay validation. Topics include: cell culture, biosafety procedures, preparation of sera and virus stocks, ELISA and microarray formats, different virus neutralization tests using pseudotyped viruses and wildtype viruses, immunofluorescence staining of cells, calculation of titers, assay validation and quality control.

Access to the BSL-3 facility including equipment and personal protective equipment, theoretical and practical training; preparation and evaluation of the BSL-3 work; BSL-3 virus collection as predefined within the project of the end user; personal support for performing specifically designed experiments; expert supervision.

Access to large animal high containment facilities BSL 3 and BSL 4 (vet). The access will comprise a detailed theoretical and subject to availability practical application of the biosafety and biosecurity management of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut. Among others, handling of large animals, necropsy including tissue sampling, establishment and validation of suitable decontamination methods for rooms and HEPA filters in animal high containment facilities, as well as documentation and information management will be addressed.

Access to rooms in animal facilities to perform animal trials by using highly contagious animal diesase viruses without zoonotic potential (3+ animal health). In our animal facilities we could accommodate e.g. fish, sheep, goats, pigs, cattle or poultry.

Access to UL infrastructure for learning/training on techniques related to virus isolation and characterization.

Access to rooms in animal facilities to perform animal trials with small animals under risk group 3 conditions (public health or animal health).
