NGS Workshop
A one-day workshop was organised by our EVAg partner Animal and Plant Health Agency, APHA on the 15th of October, 2016. The aim of this workshop was to bring together members of the consortium who have an interest in NGS technologies and passing on expertise and knowledge. The day comprised of presentations from each research group / partner in the morning with directed discussions after lunch.
The topics covered included the following:
1. Which NGS sequencing methods are currently being used;
2. Which analysis and bioinformatics programs are currently being used;
3. How NGS technologies are being applied to the virus(es) studied in the group.
After lunch, discussions for each area above focused on harmonisation of protocols /specific improvements and facilitation of collaboration between EVAg partners.
Participants came from Aix-Marseille university (France), Animal and Plant Health Agency (UK), Surrey University (UK), National Institute for Infectious Diseases Lazzaro Spallanzani (Italy), Robert Koch Institute (Germany), Institut Pasteur (France), Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (Germany), Agricultural Research Council (South Africa), National Institute for Communicable Diseases of the National Health Laboratory Service (South Africa), Centre For Environment Fisheries And Aquaculture Science (UK).
